Sir Live: Tropical Fridays with El Timbe

El Timbe, a Catalan leader in the tropical music scene, was born in Barcelona and has spent most of his life collecting records and researching music. His career as a DJ spans more than 20 years and has taken him to clubs and festivals all over the world. Now he presents his roots through Rootism, his monthly radio show on dublab.es, and his record sale platform is called Tropikon. He also organises vinyl parties in Barcelona under the name MondoTropico. He has played at BAM! Sonar and MP7 to name but a few.

Producer, musician, DJ and contributing editor for 5 Mag Chicago, Will Sumsuch has been immersed in music since the late '90s. Releasing on BBE Music as one-half of the Philadelphia-based duo Mega Jawns, Will also runs his own critically acclaimed underground electronic record label Colour and Pitch.

Sir Live: Tomas Joseph

Native New Yorker Tomas Joseph has had a lifelong love of music. At a very young age, he was lucky enough to collect his first 45 vinyls with the support of his mother, who nurtured his natural ease of understanding multiple genres of music. In his formative years, Tomas was influenced by the locations that he and his family moved to- most notably Chicago, where he was introduced to 70's Soul, Disco, and Boogie. Tomas pursued music and started music selecting professionally in 1989. After moving to New York City, he began working at the seminal, house music label, King Street Sounds/Nite Grooves during its formative years and formed long-lasting bonds with a multitude of artists. He later started his innovative music label, Metaphor Recordings. Tomas Joseph has enjoyed playing in various venues in The UK, Paris, The Netherlands, Portugal and Barcelona.

His sounds range from the early music of the African continent to the futuristic rhythms of the most current electronic avant-garde, including any sound related to bass heritage of the Jamaican culture as well as Latin and tropical rhythms.

Sir Live: Wrong Therapy

Marc and Héctor have been linked to electronic music for more than 20 years. After running large-scale events in Barcelona, ​​they now present Wrong Therapy, a project without boundaries that has lived in the shade for the last five years, an alternative therapy to the most interesting sounds of the current scene. Their music navigates between disco and funk without forgetting their passion for ítalo, house, techno and acid. With more than 30 edits and 50 songs, the duo prepares the way to join several international labels of references to be announced in the first half of 2019.

Sir Live: Tropical Fridays with Sano

Born in the mountains of Colombia and now a resident of Barcelona, SANO is a DJ and music producer who grew up in the early underground music scene of Medellín and took part in the Cómeme action all over the world in 2011. His inspiration comes from street sounds in a deep relation with rawness and mysticism, which combined define his own sound. His music is part of the Cómeme catalog edited in various label compilations and solo releases. 2016 came with new and fresh sounds in two consecutive EPs: "Los Muchachos" released on his home label Cómeme and "Hasta Abajo" released in the Munich-based imprint Public Possession. His previous discography includes three records: "RIONEGRO" (2015), a collaborative project with Gladkazuka and Matías Aguayo that ended up in a double 12” that explores the future sound of salsa and other unheard rhythms; his debut LP self titled "SANO" (2013) that compiles a selection of different improvised recordings made in Colombia; the Latin house classic "Chupa!

Barcelona native Arnau Obiols has more than enough residencies under his belt to ensure quality on any of his mixes. Starting years ago at the celebrated local club Razzmatazz, it wasn’t long before Obiols was invited to hold another residency at Apolo and even overseas at London’s classy The Scotch of St. James. How did he do it? His highly danceable disco-house sets peppered by vintage funk and soul records might just be the secret.

Sir Live: Tropical Fridays with Blanali

His musical path began at an early age, first as a self-trained bass player and later through experimenting with tape recorders and different recording techniques. Over the years, his sound has been increasingly influenced by electronic music. It was at this stage that he decided to replace conventional instruments with sequencers and sound synthesis. Currently based in Barcelona, Blanali's work has been influenced by his recent local collaborations, and his DJ sets cover a broad musical spectrum that goes from jazz to disco with a lot of world music influences.
